One question I have right now is why you cannot change the type of page from Article Page to Blank Web Page with Web Parts. There must be some basic aspect of the Web Parts page which makes it difficult or impossible to switch from one to the other. Or maybe it is something about the Article Page type?

Sharepoint has been pretty painless so far. It seems more like an OS dedicated to publishing online, rather than a boxed-application. It is nice to work with for now.

The only glitch I’ve encountered so far happened when attempting to upload multiple files at once. It seems like following this down one path fails, but following the process down another path will succeed everytime. Of course you need to have Office 2003 installed.

Most of the time I find myself working from the “Manage Content and Structure” page. If you use this to drill down to a site (or sub-site) and try to upload a PDF through here you will get a horizontal menu with “Up”, “New”, “Actions”, “Settings”, and a couple of more items. From here you could click New and select “Item”. You will see a screen offering a file-upload box and a link below it which says “Upload Multiple Files… “. Clicking this will take you to a form with multiple file-upload boxes, but submitting this form usually fails to upload your files. What I’ve found works, is to not click the “Upload Multiple Files…” link, instead click on “Documents” in the breadcrumb trail. From here you can select “Upload” –> “Upload Multiple Documents” and everything will be fine. Like heaven.
